The scaffolding’s so rickety
Rusted bolts
Dented poles
Loosely bound
By malcontent
The rotted wood of those planks
Too weak to even house worms.
I don’t know how you can trust
A man to rebuild your home
Who won’t maintain integrity
Of the structure meant
To support his own.
The wind will blow it all away.

The crows have nested here so long
Bits of bark
Twig and twine
Tightly wound
With strands of DNA
Too strong for evolution
To further mutate
I don’t know how
You justify unroosting them
From the perch they built
To live in a home you didn’t
Even build yourself.
The wind will blow it all away.

The ghosts have roamed these halls so long
Their cries
And groans
Peeling paint
On these tattered walls with
Memory desperately latching on
Their neglect multiplies
Oblivion’s shadows year after year
I don’t know how you can ignore
The clank of their chains to dwell
In the place where you, too,
will one day be forgotten.
The wind will blow it all away.
