La Llorona (NaPoWriMo 2019, Day 5 – Write A Villanelle Using Lines From Other Songs and/or Poems)
At dawn, in the crying wind, all alone
Knitting night into mossy hut, I become
A wild river to take you home
Hear the old owl calling, feel the
Gathering of deer, don’t fear me
At dawn, in the crying wind, all alone
Through the misty veil of May I roam
Singing tales of dark forests, I sow
A wild river to take you home
Black hill and silent island feed my moan
I woke to sleep, and took my waking slow
At dawn, in the crying wind, all alone
Greedy Time fed the worms on my loam
But I’m here now, dear, to claim my own
A wild river to take you home
Sea and mirror hold their breath as I go
waltzing across this tightrope, defying death
At dawn, in the crying wind, all alone
A wild river to take you home
